Colorep® in the US has published a life cycle assessment (LCA) of the performance of the AirDye® technology, taking into account impacts occurring up to its factory gates (cradle-to-gate) [1].

As shown on the figure to the left, the study found that, compared to best practice technologies, AirDye® provides 60-80% savings in carbon (greenhouse gas) emissions and 29-95% savings in water. The exact percentage depends on the application for either “design” (AirDye’s “Controlled Penetration“ technology, which is an alternative to conventional sublimation printing) or “solid colours” (AirDye’s “Complete Penetration” technology, which is an alternative to conventional dyeing) [1].
