PUMA used life cycle assessment to guide the re-design of PUMA’s Red Shoe Box, concluding that the material-efficient design of the “Clever Little Bag” concept would offer reductions for all considered environmental impacts compared to the current Red Shoe Box.

If PUMA shifted to the "Clever Little Bag" design for the 55 million shoe boxes it uses, the potential savings would include:

  • 8,500 tons of paper
  • One million litres of water
  • 10,000 tons of greenhouse gases (CO2eq)
  • Waste reductions associated with lower material use [1]
