Dissolvable joints

Innovation focusing on biodegradable and dissolvable materials is on-going across a variety of research and conceptual projects and may inspire the development of sustainable and commercially viable alternatives to existing joining methods used in industry.

Katie Ledger has explored this concept for her 'Shed Me Clothes' collection, which utilises PVA non-toxic water soluble yarn to connect an intricate fabric layering system. When the top or bottom layer of the fabric is sprayed with water, the yarn will dissolve to allow the layer to peel away, revealing another layer.
